My Dad's Mom, a.k.a Grandma Lorraine, came to our lake house with my Aunt Mary, who is her caretaker. My Aunt and parents were attending a High School Reunion honoring my Dad's graduating class. The graduating classes were in the 10-15 range and everyone in the school is invited to the reunions. I can't even fathom growing up in a town where the graduating classes are made up of ten people! I digress.
As the evening wore on my Grandma became very confused and completely forgot who I was. She was impressed with my knowledge of my family and of my Mom's family, because she had no idea who I was or how I came about this knowledge. I think the confusion was amplified by unfamiliar surroundings and the chaos of five kids under the age of 8 coming in and out of the house. Her eye sight is not great adding to the problem. By the end of the night my wife had to stay with her because she was growing more afraid of this man she did not recognize, me.
